In Greek mythology, Prometheus’s theft of fire led Zeus to create Pandora as punishment for humanity.
Prometheus is a Titan associated with foresight and with helping humankind. In Hesiod’s account, he deceives Zeus during a sacrifice and later steals fire for mortals. Zeus responds by arranging Pandora’s creation and sending her to humanity with the jar containing destructive forces.
Later writers often make Prometheus a heroic champion of civilization, while Hesiod emphasizes the conflict and its consequences. The Prometheus and Pandora stories are therefore linked in ancient Greek literature, but they are separate myths with different central figures. Pandora’s creation is not presented as an accidental event; it follows the divine dispute over fire and sacrifice.
