In Greek mythology, Prometheus’s gift of fire leads directly to Zeus’s creation of Pandora.
Prometheus is the Titan who steals fire from the gods and gives it to humanity. Zeus responds by ordering the creation of Pandora, described by Hesiod as a beautiful but harmful gift intended to balance the benefit humans received.
The story establishes a chain of cause and effect: Prometheus helps mortals, Zeus retaliates, and Pandora becomes part of the punishment. Prometheus is later punished separately, famously being bound while an eagle eats his liver, which regenerates repeatedly in many versions.
Epimetheus, whose name is associated with afterthought, receives Pandora despite Prometheus’s warning in Hesiod’s account. That makes Epimetheus important to the episode, but he is not the Titan who gave humanity fire. Atlas and Cronus belong to different mythic episodes.
