In Greek mythology, which Titan was punished before Pandora was created?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Prometheus was punished before Pandora was created. He had stolen fire from the gods and given it to humanity, an act that challenged Zeus's authority.

Zeus punished Prometheus by chaining him to a mountain, where an eagle repeatedly ate his liver. Because Prometheus was immortal, the organ grew back and the torment could continue. Heracles later killed the eagle and freed him in one major version of the story.

Pandora's creation was presented as a separate punishment aimed at humanity. Zeus ordered the gods to make her and sent her to Epimetheus, Prometheus's brother. The two episodes are connected by fire: human possession of fire leads to Zeus's retaliation through Pandora.

Prometheus's character changed across later literature. He became not only a defiant trickster but also a symbol of human creativity, scientific progress, and resistance to oppressive power.
