In Greek mythology, which Titan was Pandora’s husband or companion?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Epimetheus was Pandora’s husband or companion.

Epimetheus was a Titan whose name is commonly interpreted as “afterthought” or “hindsight.” He was the brother of Prometheus, whose name means “forethought.” Prometheus warned Epimetheus not to accept gifts from Zeus, but Epimetheus nevertheless received Pandora.

The story uses the brothers’ contrasting names to create a moral pattern. Prometheus represents advance planning, while Epimetheus realizes the consequences only afterward. Pandora’s opening of the container is therefore associated with Epimetheus’s failure to heed his brother’s warning.

Some retellings call Pandora and Epimetheus husband and wife, while others describe their union more generally. The core myth consistently places Pandora with Epimetheus rather than with Prometheus. That distinction matters because Prometheus is her creator’s opponent and Epimetheus is the figure who accepts her.
