In Greek mythology, which Titan was Pandora’s brother-in-law?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Prometheus was Pandora’s brother-in-law.

Pandora married Epimetheus, and Prometheus was Epimetheus’s brother. That family relationship makes Prometheus Pandora’s brother-in-law in the mythological genealogy. The connection also places Pandora’s story directly alongside the famous tale of Prometheus stealing fire for humanity.

Prometheus and Epimetheus are both Titans, but their names symbolize opposite habits of thought. Prometheus is associated with foresight, while Epimetheus is associated with afterthought. Prometheus’s warning that Epimetheus should reject Zeus’s gift is ignored, leading to Pandora’s arrival.

The relationship is sometimes overlooked because popular versions concentrate on the jar and its contents. Hesiod’s narrative, however, presents the Pandora episode as a continuation of the Prometheus story. The family link helps explain why Epimetheus, rather than another mythic figure, receives Pandora.
