In Greek mythology, which Titan was Deucalion’s father?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Deucalion’s father was the Titan Prometheus. Deucalion is best known as the survivor of the great flood sent by Zeus and as the husband of Pyrrha, Pandora’s daughter.

Prometheus’s connection to Deucalion links two major mythic episodes. Prometheus is associated with helping humanity, including the theft of fire, while Deucalion preserves humanity through the flood. In many versions, Prometheus warns Deucalion about the coming disaster or helps him prepare for it.

After the flood, Deucalion and Pyrrha consult the goddess Themis about restoring the human race. They interpret her instruction to throw the “bones of the mother” behind them as a command to cast stones, which become people. Deucalion is therefore a key figure in Greek stories about both catastrophe and renewal.
