Prometheus stole fire for humanity in the Greek story linked to Pandora’s creation.
Prometheus was a Titan associated with forethought and cleverness. In the best-known version of the myth, he took fire from the gods and gave it to humans, enabling craft, technology, and civilization. Zeus punished him severely, while later traditions connect his offense to the creation and arrival of Pandora.
Pandora’s story is therefore not an isolated tale. It forms part of a larger sequence about the boundary between gods and humans. Zeus’s response to the theft included sending Pandora as a divine gift, while the jar episode explained the spread of suffering among people.
Prometheus is often confused with Epimetheus because the two are brothers and their names form a deliberate contrast. Epimetheus accepted Pandora, whereas Prometheus is the figure associated with stolen fire. Atlas and Cronus are also Titans, but neither fills that role in the Pandora narrative.
