In Greek mythology, which god led Pandora to Epimetheus after the gods had equipped her?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Hermes led Pandora to Epimetheus after the gods had equipped her.

Hesiod’s Works and Days describes Zeus instructing Hermes to give Pandora a human voice and a deceptive nature, then to lead her to Epimetheus. Hermes functions here as messenger and escort, roles closely associated with him throughout Greek mythology.

The detail is easy to mix up with Hephaestus’s role. Hephaestus made Pandora’s physical form, while Hermes helped complete the plan and delivered her to the human world. Other gods also supplied qualities, making the creation a collective divine project.

Pandora’s arrival follows Prometheus’s theft of fire. Epimetheus accepts Zeus’s gift even though Prometheus had warned him against accepting anything from the Olympians. That decision sets the stage for Pandora’s later opening of the container.
