In Greek mythology, Hermes gives Pandora a deceptive character in Hesiod’s account.
The Pandora story distributes different qualities among the gods. Athena clothes and adorns Pandora, Aphrodite gives her charm, and Hermes is associated with a deceptive or untrustworthy mind and speech. Hermes then brings Pandora to Epimetheus, completing Zeus’s plan to punish humanity.
Translations differ in wording, so the quality may appear as “a shameless mind,” “a deceitful nature,” or related phrasing. The stable point is Hermes’s role in supplying the deceptive quality. This detail belongs especially to Hesiod’s description and should not be confused with Hermes being the creator of Pandora. In the myth, Pandora is fashioned through the combined actions of the gods rather than by one god alone.
