In Greek mythology, which figure became Pandora’s husband?
Answer
Epimetheus
Answer
Epimetheus
In Greek mythology, Epimetheus became Pandora’s husband.
Epimetheus was a Titan associated with hindsight or learning after an event. His brother Prometheus, whose name suggests forethought, warned him not to accept gifts from Zeus, but Epimetheus accepted Pandora when Zeus sent her to him.
Pandora and Epimetheus are central figures in Hesiod’s account of the origin of human suffering. After Pandora opened the container, the evils inside escaped into the world, while Hope remained within it in the usual interpretation.
Prometheus is often confused with Epimetheus because both brothers appear in the same myth cycle. Prometheus opposed Zeus and helped humanity by stealing fire; Epimetheus accepted Pandora and became her spouse. Their contrasting names reinforce the story’s theme of foresight and hindsight.
