Pyrrha becomes the mother of Hellen after marrying Deucalion in Greek mythology.
Pyrrha is described as the daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus. She later marries Deucalion, who is associated with Prometheus as his son. Their son Hellen becomes the mythic ancestor of the Hellenes, the ancient Greek people. This genealogy connects Pandora’s family to the origin legends of Greece.
The story of Deucalion and Pyrrha is also the Greek flood myth. After the flood destroys much of humanity, the couple follows divine instructions to cast stones behind them. The stones become people, allowing human life to begin again.
Different ancient and later sources vary in their details, including whether Pyrrha’s mother is Pandora or another figure linked with the first human generation. In the standard genealogy used in mythology reference works, however, Pyrrha is Pandora’s daughter and Hellen’s mother. She is not the same person as Pandora.
