In Greek mythology, which daughter did Helen have with Menelaus?
Answer
Hermione
Answer
Hermione
In Greek mythology, Helen’s daughter with Menelaus was Hermione.
Hermione was the only child traditionally attributed to Helen and Menelaus, king and queen of Sparta. She was born before Helen’s departure with Paris, or in some accounts before the Trojan War began. Her parents’ separation and the war over Helen shaped the family history surrounding her.
After the fall of Troy, Hermione remained connected to several royal Greek houses. Menelaus later promised her to Neoptolemus, the son of Achilles, but she had earlier been pledged to Orestes, son of Agamemnon. Different myths explain the resulting conflict in different ways, and Hermione appears in works by Euripides, Ovid, and other classical authors.
Hermione should not be confused with Helen’s various supposed children in later local traditions. The daughter most consistently associated with Helen and Menelaus is Hermione.
