In Greek mythology, what is the name of the Titan who warned his brother not to accept Zeus’s gifts?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Prometheus warned his brother Epimetheus not to accept gifts from Zeus. The warning appears in the story surrounding Pandora, but Epimetheus ignored it when Pandora arrived.

Prometheus is known for his foresight, and his name is commonly connected with the idea of thinking ahead. He had already opposed Zeus by helping humanity and, in the best-known version of the myth, stealing fire for humans. Zeus’s punishment of humanity through Pandora follows this conflict, making the warning part of a larger cycle of retaliation.

Epimetheus represents the opposite tendency: his name is associated with afterthought or hindsight. The brothers’ contrasting names and actions make their exchange a central piece of the narrative. Prometheus does not create Pandora in Hesiod’s account, nor is he her husband; Epimetheus occupies that role.
