In Greek mythology, what is the name of Pandora’s daughter’s husband?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Pandora’s daughter Pyrrha marries Deucalion. Deucalion is the son of Prometheus and is the principal male survivor of the Greek flood myth.

According to later Greek tradition, Zeus sends a flood to destroy humanity, and Deucalion and Pyrrha survive by sheltering in a chest or boat. When the flood ends, they consult the goddess Themis about restoring the human race. Her instruction to throw the “bones of their mother” behind them is interpreted as a command to cast stones from Mother Earth.

The stones thrown by Deucalion become men, while those thrown by Pyrrha become women. Their son Hellen is traditionally regarded as the ancestor of the Hellenes, the Greek people, which gives the myth a legendary explanation for the name “Hellenic.”

Deucalion is not Pandora’s husband. Epimetheus is Pandora’s husband; Deucalion belongs to the next generation through his marriage to Pyrrha. This distinction is important because the two men are connected through different branches of the mythic family.
