Pyrrha is Pandora’s daughter in Greek mythology, and she survives the great flood with her husband Deucalion. Their story belongs to the Greek flood tradition associated with Zeus’s destruction of an earlier human generation.
According to the myth, Deucalion is the son of Prometheus, while Pyrrha is the daughter of Epimetheus and Pandora. They are warned of the flood and survive in a chest or ark. After the waters recede, the pair repopulate the earth by throwing stones behind them; the stones become people.
Pyrrha should not be confused with Pandora herself. Pandora belongs to the creation story involving the jar, while Pyrrha appears in the later generation that survives the flood. Their son Hellen becomes an ancestor figure for the Hellenes, or Greeks, in later mythographic traditions.
