In Greek mythology, Pandora was created as punishment for which Titan’s theft from the gods?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Pandora was created as punishment for Prometheus’s theft of fire.

Prometheus took fire for humanity after Zeus had withheld it. The act gave mortals a powerful tool associated with cooking, craft, technology, and civilization, but it also challenged Zeus’s authority. In Hesiod’s account, Zeus answered by arranging a punishment that affected both Prometheus and humans.

Pandora’s creation is the human side of that punishment. Zeus had Hephaestus form her from earth, and the gods supplied gifts before she was sent to Epimetheus. Prometheus’s own punishment was separate: he was bound and subjected to a recurring torment involving an eagle and his liver. The myth therefore connects fire, Pandora, and divine retribution, but Pandora was not created because of a theft by Epimetheus or Atlas.
