In God of War (2018), Alfheim is the Norse realm inhabited by light and dark elves. Kratos and Atreus travel there during their quest to obtain a substance needed to reach the highest peak.
The game presents Alfheim as a bright but dangerous world divided by a long war between the Light Elves and Dark Elves. The conflict centers on control of the Light of Alfheim, a powerful source of energy located in the realm. Kratos becomes involved in the struggle while attempting to complete Faye's final request.
Alfheim is sometimes mixed up with Svartalfheim, which is the realm associated with dwarves in the modern games. Vanaheim is the home of the Vanir gods, while Asgard is associated with the Aesir and their stronghold. Each realm has a distinct role in the series' version of Norse mythology.
