In Genesis, Noah's third named son, after Shem and Ham, is Japheth.
Genesis 5:32 and 6:10 list Noah's three sons as Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They and their wives enter the ark with Noah, and Genesis later presents them as the ancestors of the peoples who repopulate the earth after the Flood.
The order in the biblical lists is Shem, Ham, and Japheth, although other passages discuss the brothers in different narrative contexts. Japheth is also mentioned in the account of Noah's drunkenness, where Shem and Japheth cover their father while Ham has seen Noah's nakedness.
Japheth should not be confused with Jabal or Jubal, other figures in Genesis, or with Jephthah, a judge named in the Book of Judges. The name belongs specifically to one of Noah's three sons and one of the eight people described as entering the ark.
