In “Friendship Is Magic,” the town where most ponies live is Ponyville.
Ponyville is the central community of the series and the home base for Twilight Sparkle and the other members of the Mane Six. Twilight initially arrives there at Princess Celestia’s request to supervise the Summer Sun Celebration and make friends, despite preferring books and solitary study.
The town is portrayed as a small, welcoming settlement in Equestria, with residents from different pony groups, including earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns. Important locations include the Golden Oak Library, Sugarcube Corner, Carousel Boutique, Sweet Apple Acres, and the town hall.
Ponyville is sometimes confused with Canterlot, Cloudsdale, or Manehattan. Canterlot is Equestria’s royal capital, Cloudsdale is a pegasus city in the clouds, and Manehattan is a large urban center. Ponyville remains the show’s main setting because many of its friendship lessons and adventures begin there.
