In "Firestarter", what is the name of the young girl with pyrokinetic powers?

The story behind the answer

In Firestarter, the young girl with pyrokinetic powers is Charlie McGee.

Charlie is the daughter of Andy McGee and Victoria “Vicky” Tomlinson. Her ability to start and control fires is called pyrokinesis, and it is far more powerful than the abilities possessed by either parent. Charlie’s parents gained limited psychic powers after participating in a college experiment involving a drug known as Lot 6.

The novel follows Charlie and Andy as they flee The Shop, the secretive government agency responsible for the experiment. The agency wants to capture Charlie because her extraordinary ability could be turned into a weapon. Her powers make her dangerous, but the story also presents her as a frightened child being pursued and exploited by adults.

Charlie is sometimes confused with Carrie White, another King character associated with unusual powers. Carrie has telekinetic abilities, whereas Charlie’s defining gift is control over fire. Firestarter was first published in 1980 and later received film adaptations, including the 1984 version starring a young Drew Barrymore and a 2022 remake.
