In Final Fantasy VIII, what is the name of the garden that Squall attends?

In Final Fantasy VIII, Squall attends Balamb Garden. It is both a military academy and a residential institution where young candidates train to become SeeD mercenaries.

Balamb Garden is located near the town of Balamb and serves as the game’s primary home base during its early chapters. Squall begins the story as a student there, alongside characters including Zell Dincht and Selphie Tilmitt. The Garden’s headmaster is Cid Kramer, while Squall’s instructor is Quistis Trepe.

The school is more than a backdrop. Its mobile structure allows it to travel across the world, and its command system becomes part of the plot when political conflict spreads between Gardens. Balamb Garden’s shifting role—from academy to traveling headquarters—helps connect the game’s school setting to its larger international conflict.

The other options are also real locations. Galbadia Garden is a rival military academy, and Trabia Garden is another institution associated with the playable cast. Esthar Garden, however, is not the academy Squall attends. The specific answer is Balamb Garden.
