In Exodus 31, Bezalel was appointed to lead the craftsmanship for the Tabernacle and its furnishings.
The text says that God called Bezalel by name and filled him with the spirit of God, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in many kinds of skilled work. His tasks included work with gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood.
Oholiab of the tribe of Dan was appointed to assist Bezalel. The pair supervised the production of the tent sanctuary, the Ark, the table, the lampstand, the altar, and other sacred objects described in the instructions given to Moses.
Bezalel’s name is therefore the best answer when a question asks for the principal craftsman. Oholiab was an important assistant, not a competing answer. Exodus 35–38 repeats and expands the account of their work.
