In Disney's Camp Rock 3, campers perform “Play My Music” in the competition's first challenge.
The song is a Connect 3 number that the campers use to introduce themselves in the opening stage of the contest. Sage, Desi, Cliff, Rosie, Fletch, and Madison with her backup dancers all pass this first challenge.
“Play My Music” connects Camp Rock 3 to the earlier franchise. Connect 3 was already associated with the original Camp Rock films, so using one of the band's songs gives the new competition a musical link to Shane, Nate, and Jason's history.
It is distinct from “One Beat Away,” which was released as the first single from the Camp Rock 3 soundtrack. “We Rock” and “This Is Me” are also associated with the wider Camp Rock musical legacy, but neither is the song used for the first competition challenge in the third film.
