In Diablo III, which demon rules the realm of Greed?

The story behind the answer

In Diablo III, Greed rules the realm of Greed.

Greed is a demon and the guardian of the Vault, a hidden treasure realm reached through a special portal. The Vault is filled with gold, treasure goblins, and lavish golden environments, making it one of the game’s most distinctive optional areas.

Players encounter Greed as the realm’s boss rather than as one of the campaign’s principal Prime or Lesser Evils. Her role connects the encounter to the treasure-goblin economy: treasure goblins are small demons that flee while dropping gold and items, and they can sometimes open portals to unusual locations.

Greed is often confused with Belial and Azmodan, who are major campaign villains in Acts II and III. Belial represents lies, while Azmodan commands the forces attacking Bastion’s Keep. Greed instead belongs to the optional treasure-focused content associated with the Vault.
