In Diablo III, what is the name of the town that replaces the original Diablo’s Tristram as the main early hub?

The story behind the answer

New Tristram is the main early town hub in Diablo III.

The settlement stands near the ruins of Old Tristram and serves as the player’s base during much of the opening act. Characters such as Leah, Deckard Cain, and various merchants are connected with the town’s story. The player returns there frequently while investigating the fallen star and the cathedral.

New Tristram is not simply the original town reused unchanged. Diablo III presents it as a later settlement built near the destroyed Tristram, while the old town remains an important historical location in the series’ lore. That distinction explains why names such as Old Tristram, New Tristram, and the Tristram cathedral can appear together.

Later acts move the main hubs to places including Caldeum, Bastion’s Keep, and the newly important city of Westmarch in Reaper of Souls.
