In Diablo III, the playable class that commands undead minions is the Necromancer.
The Necromancer returned to the series in the Rise of the Necromancer content pack, released in 2017. Its design draws on the Diablo II Necromancer but adds new skills, equipment, and visual effects suited to Diablo III’s faster combat system.
Necromancers can raise skeletal warriors and mages, summon a golem, drain life, and use corpses as resources for attacks. Their abilities combine dark magic with battlefield control, allowing players to fight alongside an army of summoned creatures.
The Witch Doctor is a common mix-up because that Diablo III class also summons creatures and uses poison and spirit magic. However, the Witch Doctor is a separate class. The Necromancer was not included in Diablo III’s original 2012 launch roster; it arrived later as paid downloadable content.
