In Diablo II, which expansion added the Assassin and Druid classes?

The story behind the answer

Diablo II: Lord of Destruction added the Assassin and Druid classes.

Blizzard North released Lord of Destruction in 2001 as the major expansion for Diablo II. Alongside a new Act V and the battle against Baal, it introduced two playable classes with very different approaches to combat.

The Assassin specializes in martial arts, traps, and shadow disciplines. The Druid uses elemental magic, can transform into animal forms, and can summon creatures. These additions expanded the original roster of Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, and Sorceress.

Lord of Destruction also added elite items, runes, charms, hireling improvements, and expanded storage. It is distinct from later Diablo expansions: Reaper of Souls belongs to Diablo III, while Diablo IV uses a separate class roster.
