In Diablo II, which class uses traps and martial-arts skills as its signature abilities?

The story behind the answer

In Diablo II, the Assassin uses traps and martial-arts skills as its signature abilities.

The Assassin was one of two classes introduced in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, the expansion released in 2001. Her skill trees include Martial Arts, which builds attacks around finishing moves and charge-up skills, and Traps, which lets her deploy devices that damage or control enemies.

The class also has a Shadow Disciplines tree containing abilities such as Fade, Burst of Speed, and Cloak of Shadows. This combination gives the Assassin several distinct play styles, from close-range combat to trap-focused battlefield control.

The Assassin should not be confused with the Amazon, another agile Diablo II class that specializes in javelins, spears, and bows. The expansion’s other new class was the Druid, who uses nature magic and can transform into animal forms. Together, they expanded the original five-class roster to seven.
