In C.S. Lewis’s Narnia books, what kind of creature is Reepicheep?
Answer
A talking mouse
Answer
A talking mouse
Reepicheep is a talking mouse in C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia. He is a skilled swordsman, a duellist, and a fearless leader of Narnian mice.
The character appears most prominently in Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Last Battle. His small size contrasts with his grand sense of honour and his determination to seek adventure, especially in the voyage toward the world’s end.
Reepicheep is sometimes misremembered as a larger Narnian animal because he commands respect among princes, kings, and warriors. Lewis deliberately uses the contrast between physical size and courage as part of the character’s appeal. His name and personality also make him one of the most recognizable nonhuman figures in the series.
