In Avatar: The Way of Water, Neteyam is Jake Sully and Neytiri’s eldest biological son.
Neteyam is the firstborn son of Jake and Neytiri and the oldest of their biological children. He belongs to the Omaticaya Na’vi clan and grows up in a family that also includes his younger brother Lo’ak, younger sister Tuktirey, and adopted daughter Kiri. The human boy Spider is another close member of the family’s wider circle, but he is not Jake and Neytiri’s biological child.
The film follows the Sully family after they leave their forest home and seek refuge with the Metkayina reef people. Neteyam’s position as the eldest child gives him a protective role, especially in relation to Lo’ak, whose impulsiveness frequently causes conflict.
Neteyam is played by Jamie Flatters. His name is easy to confuse with Lo’ak because both brothers are central young characters, but Lo’ak is the second son. Neteyam’s family role and fate are significant parts of the film’s emotional storyline.
