In Assassin’s Creed Origins, which Egyptian settlement is Bayek of Siwa’s home?

The story behind the answer

Siwa is Bayek’s home settlement in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Bayek is introduced as a Medjay from the Siwa Oasis in Egypt. The game begins there before expanding into a much larger open world that includes Alexandria, Memphis, Cyrene, and other regions. Siwa establishes Bayek’s identity, his work as a protector, and the personal events that drive his investigation into a hidden conspiracy.

Origins is set during the final period of Ptolemaic Egypt, around the first century BCE. Its story follows Bayek and Aya as they become involved in the formation of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later develops into the Assassin Brotherhood. The game therefore serves as an origin story for the series’ central conflict.

Siwa is sometimes mistaken for Alexandria because Alexandria is one of the game’s most prominent cities and a major center of learning and politics. However, Alexandria is a destination in Bayek’s journey, while Siwa is his home and the place from which his story begins.
