In Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes novel The Hound of the Baskervilles, the heir is named Sir Henry Baskerville.
Sir Henry arrives in London from Canada to claim Baskerville Hall after the death of his uncle, Sir Charles Baskerville. His inheritance is threatened by the family legend of a monstrous hound, and Dr Watson travels to Devon to protect him while Holmes investigates from London before joining the case.
The novel was serialized in The Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902 and became one of the best-known Holmes adventures. Sir Henry is a practical, energetic figure whose willingness to face danger contrasts with the supernatural fears surrounding his family.
Readers sometimes confuse Sir Henry with Sir Charles, the previous Baskerville whose death begins the mystery. They are separate characters: Charles is the deceased uncle, while Henry is the surviving heir at the center of the investigation.
