In April 2015, the San Antonio Spurs extended their NBA record for consecutive seasons with 50 or more victories to 16.
The milestone came on April 3, 2015, when San Antonio defeated the Denver Nuggets. That victory gave the Spurs a 50–26 record and guaranteed their 16th straight season with at least 50 regular-season wins. The streak began in the 1999–2000 season.
The achievement reflected the remarkable stability of the Spurs organization. Gregg Popovich coached the team throughout the streak, while stars such as Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginóbili helped sustain its success across different eras. The Spurs also won five NBA championships during that broader period, including titles in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014.
A common mix-up is the final length of the streak. San Antonio eventually extended it to 18 consecutive 50-win seasons, ending after the 2017–18 season. In the April 2015 question, however, 16 was the correct record at that moment.
