In America250 history, what Philadelphia building hosted adoption of the Declaration of Independence?

The story behind the answer

In America250 history, Independence Hall hosted adoption of the Declaration of Independence.

The building stood in Philadelphia as the Pennsylvania State House when the Second Continental Congress met there. Congress adopted the Declaration on July 4, 1776, declaring that the thirteen colonies were free and independent states. The building was later renamed Independence Hall to reflect its national significance.

Independence Hall was also the meeting place of the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Delegates debated and signed the United States Constitution there on September 17, 1787. This makes the building connected to both the declaration of independence and the creation of the federal government.

The building is part of Independence National Historical Park and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. A common mix-up is Carpenters’ Hall, which hosted the First Continental Congress in 1774. Congress Hall, also in Philadelphia, served as the meeting place of the U.S. Congress from 1790 to 1800.
