In 'After Hours', what is the name of the main character?

The story behind the answer

In After Hours, the main character is Paul Hackett. Played by Griffin Dunne, Paul is a mild-mannered Manhattan office worker whose attempt to visit a woman in SoHo turns into an increasingly surreal overnight ordeal.

Paul meets Marcy Franklin in a café and accepts an invitation to her apartment. A lost $20 bill leaves him nearly penniless, and a chain of misunderstandings involving taxis, subway fares, suspicious neighbors, artists, bartenders, and thieves makes it impossible for him to get home. The film’s tension comes from Paul’s ordinary personality colliding with an extraordinary series of bad turns.

Directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Joseph Minion, After Hours was released in 1985. It blends black comedy, film noir, and an urban nightmare structure. The wrong options can be confusing because Tom Schiller and Cheech are characters in the film, while Griffin Dunne is the actor who plays Paul—not the character’s name. The movie later became regarded as a cult classic.
