A doll may be presented to a quinceañera to represent childhood.
The presentation is commonly known as the last doll. A parent or another important family member gives the doll to the honoree as a symbolic reminder of the childhood stage she is leaving behind.
The custom works alongside other transition rituals, such as the changing of shoes and the presentation of a tiara. Together, these actions create a ceremony made up of visible symbols rather than a single standardized rite.
Not every family includes a last doll. Some modern quinceañeras adapt the idea by giving a keepsake, heirloom, or another meaningful object. The doll should therefore be understood as a traditional option, not an obligation or a universal religious practice.
