A traditional quinceañera court usually includes fourteen young men accompanying the quinceañera.
Together with the celebrant, the fourteen escorts represent the fifteen years being marked. The young men are often called chambelanes, although terminology and the court’s composition vary by region and family.
Some celebrations use a smaller court, an all-female court, or no formal court at all. Therefore, fourteen describes the classic convention rather than a requirement for every modern celebration.
The court commonly participates in a choreographed entrance and a formal dance. Its role is ceremonial, not a religious requirement, and families often adapt it to their preferences, budget, and community traditions.
