In 'A Song of Ice and Fire', what is the name of the mother of dragons?

The story behind the answer

In A Song of Ice and Fire, the mother of dragons is Daenerys Targaryen.

Daenerys is the last surviving child of King Aerys II Targaryen and grows up in exile after her family is overthrown during Robert’s Rebellion. Her identity changes dramatically when she marries Khal Drogo and receives three fossilized dragon eggs as a wedding gift. After Drogo’s death, Daenerys walks into his funeral pyre with the eggs; when the fire dies, three living dragons emerge.

She names the dragons Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion, after important men in her life. From that point onward, “Mother of Dragons” becomes her defining title, alongside titles such as Breaker of Chains and Queen of the Andals. The dragons give her military power, but her story also focuses on governance, slavery, conquest, and the moral costs of claiming a throne.

The other options are major characters from the series, but none is a Targaryen dragon-mother: Sansa and Arya are Stark sisters, while Cersei Lannister is queen of Westeros and the mother of three children.
