In the “last doll” tradition, the quinceañera may receive a doll.
The doll symbolizes childhood and the transition associated with turning fifteen. In a formal presentation, a parent or another family member may give the doll to the celebrant as a reminder of the toys and early years she is symbolically leaving behind. The custom is sometimes called the entrega de la última muñeca, or presentation of the last doll.
The tradition is not practiced at every quinceañera. Families may replace it with another symbolic gift, adapt the presentation, or omit it entirely. Modern celebrations often interpret the gesture as a sentimental family moment rather than a strict statement about adulthood.
The doll ceremony is also distinct from the changing-of-the-shoes ritual. Both can express transition, but they use different objects and carry different presentation customs.
