In 2009, Christina Milian announced that her fourth studio album would be called Elope.
The project was originally announced in 2008 under the title Dream in Color. Milian later changed the name to Elope, a title that reflected the romantic theme surrounding her relationship and marriage plans at the time. She revealed the new title through a video announcement and continued developing the album with producers and songwriters.
Elope was intended to follow Milian’s 2006 album So Amazin’, which included the hit single “Say I.” She signed a deal with Interscope Records and discussed a 2010 release, but the album was ultimately shelved amid label and business complications. Several songs from the sessions circulated or were released later, while the album itself never arrived as originally planned.
A common mix-up is confusing Elope with Dream in Color. They were not separate fourth albums; Dream in Color was the earlier working title that Milian replaced with Elope.
