Jackie Robinson won one World Series championship. He earned that title with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1955, when they defeated the New York Yankees in seven games.
Robinson played in six World Series during his ten-season major-league career, but the Dodgers lost the first five. The 1955 victory was especially meaningful because Brooklyn had repeatedly fallen short against the Yankees, including defeats in the 1947, 1949, 1952, and 1953 World Series. The Dodgers finally won the championship by taking the deciding seventh game 2–0.
Robinson was 36 during the 1955 season and played a reduced role as the Dodgers managed his declining speed and injuries. He appeared in the Series but did not play in Game 7, with Jim Gilliam at second base and Don Hoak at third. Even so, Robinson was a member of the championship team and is officially credited with one World Series title. The Dodgers won again in 1959, three years after Robinson retired, so that championship is not part of his personal total.
