Cristiano Ronaldo has won five UEFA Champions League titles. He lifted the trophy once with Manchester United in 2008 and four times with Real Madrid in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
His first triumph came in the 2007–08 season, when Manchester United defeated Chelsea on penalties in the final in Moscow. Ronaldo scored United’s goal in the match and also finished as the competition’s leading scorer.
Ronaldo then became central to Real Madrid’s European dominance. He scored in the 2014 final against Atlético Madrid and helped Madrid win three successive Champions League titles from 2016 through 2018. The 2018 victory made him the first player to win the competition five times in the Champions League era.
A common mix-up is confusing titles with scoring seasons: Ronaldo has been the tournament’s top scorer more often than he has won the trophy. His five titles also differ from his total of European Cup and Champions League victories as a player, since the modern competition began in 1992.
