How many trees did the America250 Pathway of the Patriots project expect to plant?

The story behind the answer

The America250 Pathway of the Patriots project expected to plant 250 new trees along the Schuylkill River Trail.

The project was introduced in November 2018 through a tree-planting ceremony organized by the Daughters of the American Revolution in partnership with the United States Semiquincentennial Commission. The planned route connects Philadelphia with Valley Forge.

The number was chosen to echo the national anniversary being prepared for 2026. The project linked environmental stewardship with commemoration, using a living landscape rather than only monuments, ceremonies, or exhibits.

The Schuylkill River Trail is a major recreational route in southeastern Pennsylvania. Its connection toward Valley Forge also evokes the American Revolutionary War and the Continental Army’s 1777–78 winter encampment there.
