The standard edition of Taylor Swift’s Folklore contains 16 tracks, including “august.” The album was released as a surprise project on July 24, 2020.
Its track list moves through fictional characters, historical figures, memories, and imagined relationships. “august” is the eighth track on the standard edition, positioned after “Seven” and before “This Is Me Trying.”
The number 16 is sometimes confused with the deluxe edition’s expanded content. The deluxe physical editions included the bonus track “The Lakes,” giving those versions 17 songs. That additional track was later released digitally, but it was not part of the original standard track list.
Folklore’s 16-song structure also helped establish its unusually immersive feel. Rather than presenting one conventional storyline, the album builds a collection of interconnected narratives and standalone character sketches, with “august” serving as one part of the teenage love triangle.
