Five special quarter-dollar designs are planned for the United States Semiquincentennial coin program.
The 2026 coinage plan includes a dime, five quarters, a half dollar, and a one-dollar coin with commemorative designs, alongside the cent and nickel of the current series. The five-quarter group is one part of a broader program recognizing the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The design count is easy to confuse with the number of denominations. The program covers several denominations, but “five” refers specifically to separate quarter-dollar designs. It also should not be confused with the 50-state quarters program, which issued one design for each state between 1999 and 2008.
The coin program was authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020. That law also created other redesign programs, so not every commemorative coin issued around 2026 belongs to the semiquincentennial series.
