How many songs are in the setlist of Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s?

The story behind the answer

There are 30 songs in the setlist of Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s. The game, officially titled Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s in North America, was released for PlayStation 2 in 2007 as a 1980s-themed follow-up to Guitar Hero II.

Its soundtrack contains 30 career songs, arranged across six tiers with encore performances. Unlike earlier Guitar Hero titles, Rocks the 80s has no bonus tracks, so the 30-song figure refers to the complete playable setlist rather than only the main career section.

Most selections were originally recorded in the 1980s, including Ratt's “Round and Round,” Dio's “Holy Diver,” and Twisted Sister's “I Wanna Rock.” There are notable exceptions: “Because, It's Midnite” was created in 2003 for the fictional Homestar Runner band Limozeen, while “Ballroom Blitz” and “Radar Love” were 1970s songs covered by 1980s bands. That mix is why soundtrack counts can sometimes be confused with the number of decade-appropriate songs.
