House, M.D. had eight seasons.
The Fox medical drama premiered on November 16, 2004, and concluded on May 21, 2012. Its eight-season run followed Gregory House, a brilliant but misanthropic physician who led a diagnostic team at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey.
The show’s seasons varied in structure. Early episodes usually centered on a puzzling patient case, while later seasons added major changes to House’s diagnostic team, his relationship with Lisa Cuddy, and his friendship with James Wilson. The eighth season was the final one, ending with the two-part story “Holding On” and “Everybody Dies.”
A common mix-up is confusing the show’s seasons with its episode count. House, M.D. produced 177 episodes across eight seasons, not eight episodes or eight years exactly. The series also aired in more than 70 countries, helping make its distinctive medical-mystery format internationally recognizable.
