How many seasons did House M.D. run on Fox?

The story behind the answer

House M.D. ran for eight seasons on Fox. The series began in 2004 and concluded in 2012 after following Dr. Gregory House and his colleagues through changing diagnostic teams, hospital politics, and personal crises.

Its first seasons established the familiar case-of-the-week format: House and his fellows investigated rare or confusing illnesses while navigating the hospital’s rules. Later seasons changed the team structure and gave greater attention to House’s relationships, addiction, and professional consequences.

The eighth season was the final season. Its concluding episode, “Everybody Dies,” aired on May 21, 2012, and provided the series’ ending for House and James Wilson. The final season also reflected budget and cast changes that had developed during the show’s run.

The count is sometimes confused with the number of episodes or with the number of years the program occupied television schedules. Eight is the number of completed broadcast seasons.
