Fox’s House, M.D. ran for eight seasons.
The series began in November 2004 and concluded in May 2012. Across those eight seasons, it followed Gregory House as he led diagnostic teams through rare, complex, and frequently dangerous medical cases. The show combined hospital mysteries with continuing storylines about House’s friendships, addiction, professional conflicts, and changing teams.
The main cast and workplace changed over time. Early seasons centered on House’s original fellows, while later seasons introduced new doctors and altered the structure of the diagnostic department. Despite those changes, the central format remained recognizable: a patient with unexplained symptoms, competing hypotheses, tests, and a final diagnosis.
The season count is distinct from the episode count. House, M.D. produced 177 episodes, so eight seasons does not mean eight episodes or eight calendar years exactly. Its final season ended with the two-part storyline associated with House’s apparent death and later revelation.
