The 2026 America250 coin program authorizes five quarter designs.
The Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 authorized a special group of United States coins for the semiquincentennial year. For quarters, the law calls for five designs. The program also covers other denominations, including a dime, half dollar, and dollar, with commemorative designs planned for most of them.
The quarter series is separate from the American Women Quarters Program, which began earlier and honors individual women through rotating reverse designs. The semiquincentennial quarters are tied specifically to the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The legislation allowed the United States Mint to redesign circulating coins in 2026. The broader program also includes cents and nickels of the current series, although those denominations do not receive the same commemorative treatment described for the quarters. Coin plans and final designs can be announced in stages, so proposed imagery should not be confused with the number authorized by law.
